Shegan Campbell, Co-Founder and Executive Director
Many moons ago, a child just wanted to be a scientist so he could cure his grandmother's cough. That noble quest led Shegan Campbell to become an engineer, obtaining a BS in Electrical Engineering from The University of Michigan and a MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. A few years later, he obtained a MBA with Honors from the Chicago Booth School of Business. Shegan has taught for the Engineering Learning Resource Center, Program for Accelerated Careers in Engineering, Detroit Area Pre College Engineering Program, Stanford University, East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring, Metropolitan Racquet Club and several other programs involving teaching science and mentoring kids over his career. He also has been a motivational speaker and frequent guest panelist on entrepreneurship, education, and leadership.
Professionally, he also has designed systems at two well-known technology companies (Intel, Lucent), led teams at two venture capital backed Bay Area start-ups, worked in atomic physics at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, and spent five years investing $1 Billion in other companies at Prudential Capital Group. After a successful career, Shegan felt compelled to do something with a far greater positive impact by addressing the inadequate education our children are receiving in science. The result was the creation of Kids Science Labs. He is a Siebel Scholar, Toigo Fellow, and Hugh Hildreth Skilling Award Recipient as Most Outstanding Teaching Assistant at Stanford University. He lives in Chicago with his wife (a doctor and former environmental engineer) daughter, a student at Near North Montessori School, and newborn son.
